About the service

Runor is a digital research platform that contains approximately 7,000 runic inscriptions, as well as reports and images from various databases, institutions and collections. The purpose of the platform is to simplify research and to make existing runic material digitally accessible.

Runor is a collaboration between Riksantikvarieämbetet and Uppsala university.

My role

Runor (Runes in english) is a web-based digital service I designed from scratch.

I performed a major research based on interviews and workshops. The target group was scientists, linguists, students and other groups with interest in runic information. I picked out one or several users from each of the prioritised areas. After the interviews, workshops and historical research I had a good picture of how the different groups needed to sort and filter the many objects and how they valued the information and wanted it presented. I created multiple user stories together with the users and experts. Prototyping and test iterations followed until each task was validated and ready to be developed.
